Netvibes tabs it up…I’m HOME, at last.

Over the weekend, Netvibes released an update to their great ajax-rich web desktop. They have added multiple pages with tabs, authenticated feeds support, and plenty more. A complete overview of their new features can be found on their blog. It’s been 10 years since I first used the internet, but only now, do I feel like I have a "home" on the web. Now when I open up ANY browser from ANYWHERE in the world, I’ll have MY desktop, customized and organized to MY own tastes, and integrated with the web applications that I depend on. Everything is only a quick click away. Netvibes, before this update, was already a superb web 2.0 application, covered in an earlier post here. However, the "desktop" space was too small to comfortably organize and view everything. Now, with tabs, you can dedicate a page to whatever you want. My set-up consists of a page for each of the following:

  • Daily RSS feeds
  • Weekly RSS feeds
  • Email Accounts (Gmail, Yahoo, Pop, Imap)
  • Box.net accounts
  • Delicious and personal bookmarks
  • Writely documents
  • 30boxes and ICal Calendars

Now if only someone would develop a Kinkless GTD Web 2.0 application (would be big!!) to mashup with Netvibes…
